John W Smith - aka "Jay Dubya

I am a local artist, member of Ashby Art Club and have lived in Ashby De La Zouch for over thirty years, I paint mainly in acrylic but I keep an open mind and am always ready for a new challenge and a new medium. I paint in a contemporary style but I believe that realism still has a place in today’s art.  My subject matter is whatever interests me; I enjoy painting portrait, landscape or still life. 

Why ‘Jay Dubya’ ? Exhibiting at a gallery with two other ‘John Smith’s' led to some confusion! Jay Dubya is a play on my Christian name’s initials John William…J.W…Jay Dubya

I could have been Will.i.am but someone beat me to it !

Vivienne Cawson

Vivienne runs watercolour workshops from her studio in Ashby for small groups and also exhibits in local galleries and shops, as well as nationally. Please see her website for further details. 

Di Lorriman

Di is a qualified teacher and runs watercolour courses at the Adult Education centre in Swadlincote and at Rickmans Corner, Linton.
